Geof,

My friend gave me these leads for you. Not sure if you have them or not. The Maine suggestion is random, but he's originally from there. Road trip!

Richardson's in Middleton is sweet as is Shain's in Sanford, ME.

You need to do something soon. I look forward to your words of banana-split-wisdom. Go somewhere and eat some ice cream.

it is a sad existence that lives only to experience the world vicariously through another.

my advice is this: if you want to see a banana split, you should go get one.

Captain Dusty's in Beverly Farms and the Ice Creamsmith in Lower Mills (Dorchester) are two you might want to add to the list.

Here in Arlington we have the Chilly Cow http://www.thechillycow.com/

They get their ice cream from Shain's in Maine, and it is excellent. You might enjoy their "Monster" sundae (but bring a friend!)

They also have frozen custard.
